Abstract

Background having high blood pressure puts people at risk for heart diseases which are leading causes of death. In order to prevent and control the incidence of Hypertension there are programs could be taken. For example, take medication regularly. The cost of hypertension medicine is quite expensive. To overcome it,
people consume herbal therapy because of the belief of its effects and it is cheaper than medical medicine. The Purpose to explore hypertension patients’ experiences in using herbal therapy to control their blood pressure at Lingkungan VII, Paal 2. The theoretical framework of this research is adapted from the Leininger’s theory using Sunrise Model, the researcher wants to describe how these factors may be
interrelated in affects holistic health and influence human behavior in this case the usage of herbal therapy for hypertension.
Methods Descriptive Qualitative research. Sample size is 6 respondents. Sampling technique is Snowball sampling. Data was collected through In-Depth Interview and analyzed with Thematic data analysis.
Results Deliver two themes which are What I know about hypertension and The usage of herbal therapy. First theme, explain about the respondent experience with signs and symptoms of hypertension and the cause of hypertension. Second theme,
explains about the respondents’ reasons for choosing herbal as their therapy for hypertension and which herbs is used and its effects.
Conclusion the usage of herbal therapy can be concluded as the using of plants which are believed can cure illness, such as chronic diseases like hypertension.
Respondents trust herbal to be used as their therapy for hypertension because of their beliefs about its effects and it has less or no side effects to their body.
